Successful week of Saudi-Dutch collaboration

This past week, Dutch Greenhouse Delta has been at the heart of successful events in Riyadh, working alongside our Saudi partners to realize food security!

SAFTA-DGD Roadshow
The week kicked off on Sunday October 20th, with the ‘Saudi AgriFood Tech Alliance – Dutch Greenhouse Delta Roadshow’ at the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. Here, Saudi experts came together to explore the future of farming in the Kingdom. Discussions centered on Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), water management, and how integrated solutions from the Netherlands can help achieve the Saudi Vision 2030. Dutch Greenhouse Delta is a proud partner of the new alliance SAFTA.

Formalizing the partnership between DGD and KAUST
On Monday the 21st, the collaboration between Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD) and the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) was formalized with the signing of a MoU by KAUST’s Professor Sir Edward Byrne and our CEO Mirjam Boekestijn. We celebrated our Saudi-Dutch partnership that evening during the official launch the KAUST Center of Excellence for Sustainable Food Security.

Promotion of the Netherlands at Saudi Agriculture
Throughout the Saudi Agriculture exhibition, Dutch companies and organizations were well-represented, with the Netherlands Pavilion serving as a hub for showcasing innovations. The pavilion was officially opened by Minister H.E. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli and Dutch Ambassador Hans Peter van der Woude, underscoring the importance of Dutch-Saudi collaboration.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming students from our Knowledge-2-Knowledge (K2K) program, developed in collaboration with TOPIAN and Estidamah. These students, the future generation of Saudi agriculture, visited the Netherlands Pavilion to meet DGD’s partners and learn more about the latest solutions in horticulture.

We are proud of the concrete steps taken and excited for the future. We thank all partners and hosts. Together, we are moving toward food security in the Middle East!
