Our CEO Mirjam Boekestijn was present at the successful HortiAsia2024 organised by VNU Asia Pacific. This smart horticulture exhibition opened its doors to the public from 22 – 24 May at BITEC, Bangkok. With more than 300 exhibitors from 60 countries, Horti ASIA is one of the internationally recognized trade shows on technology and innovation for the horticultural and floricultural industry.
On the first day the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Thailand organized a Thai-Dutch seminar, titled: “Innovation and Sustainable Horticulture: A Thai-Dutch Inspiration in Global Context”. In this session Mirjam spoke about the Dutch horticultural sector, the features of Controlled Environment Agriculture and the role Dutch Greenhouse Delta is taking in creating long-term partnerships for sustainable production locally. More interesting in-depth presentations followed by Klasmann-Deilmann (Bert Desmet), Priva Asia (Marcus van Heijst), Koppert (Rob Rippens) and AgriSolutionsAsia (Menno Keppel).
Prior to this session, the speakers and guests from governmental and educational institutes in Thailand shared their knowledge and experiences during a networking lunch.
In the NL booth, the deputy minister of Agriculture of Thailand was introduced to the Dutch horticultural sector and the role of the Netherlands in the future of farming. Also, many visitors from Thailand and surrounding countries were received!
In a meeting with the Department of Agriculture Extensions the collaboration opportunities between the Thailand and the Netherlands were discussed including the challenges the agriculture sector is facing.
We look back on a very successful exhibition where many contacts have been made!
