Last week, a delegation of Dutch horticultural companies took part in our Egypt mission on Protected Cultivation. This visit took place as part of our new PIB programme HortiWaterRoad2Egypt. The PIB aims to strengthen collaboration between Dutch and Egyptian partners in developing sustainable and innovative horticultural solutions.
During our mission, the delegation explored several public and private agricultural projects, highlighting Egypt’s growing ambition in modern horticulture. Meetings were held with a wide range of stakeholders to exchange knowledge on topics such as greenhouse operations, biological crop protection, and sustainable water management.

An important outcome of the week was the announcement of an upcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DGD and Farm2Fork, an Egyptian initiative that connects the food value chain from farm to consumer. The partnership will focus on joint awareness and capacity-building activities to promote Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) across Egypt.
The mission demonstrated strong interest from both sides to explore new business and collaboration opportunities in the field of sustainable food production.
We thank all Egyptian and Dutch partners for their valuable contributions to a constructive and inspiring week!
