Successful launch of K2K-program China

The Knowlegde-2-Knowlegde program (K2K) was successfully launched on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Jiashan Technology Innovation Demonstration Center. K2K is one of the most important projects of PIB Horti in China, and it is significant for transferring Dutch greenhouse growing knowledge and experience to new farmers in China.

In recent years, China’s facility agriculture industry has had an increasing demand for precise training of new farmers. The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in China, the Partners for International Business (PIB) ‘NL Protected Agri Alliance China’ and Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD) have joined hands for the training tender K2K, implemented by Marc de Ruiter from Horti Synergy. DGD partners such as Ridder, Van Der Hoeven, and BOAL participated in this program by delivering some online modules. Ridder furthermore participated in the first training week with a presentation of their software climate control technology.

About PIB Horti China

With the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in China and RVO, Dutch Greenhouse Delta launched the PIB Horti in 2021, together with a group of outstanding Dutch companies and knowledge institutions. This PIB (Partners for International Business) is an organization that can help China achieve sustainable and profitable horticulture. It is a facility horticulture platform for the healthy development of industrial chains and large agricultural parks.

Knowlegde 2 Knowlegde program

During the launch of the K2K program, Gert Dral, coordinator of the PIB Horti, delivered an opening speech online. He stated that K2K is one of the important projects of PIB. The goal is to transfer the knowledge and experience of Dutch horticulture experts to teachers in Chinese vocational colleges and improve the ability of Chinese agricultural vocational colleges to offer courses related to greenhouse cultivation and other facility agriculture.

Mr. Lin Pubin, Chairman of HX (Beijing) Holdings Co., Ltd., delivered a welcome speech and warmly welcomed all trainees. According to Mr. Lin, the Jiashan Sino-Dutch Digital Agriculture Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Center is a provincial-level new infrastructure pilot project for “agriculture, rural areas and farmers”.The planning of the entire agro-park was done by Jiashan County in close collaboration with Dutch Greenhouse Delta . The demonstration center is jointly invested by Jiashan County Economic and Technological Development Zone, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province and HX Netherlands. It is located in the third phase of the Sino-Dutch Industrial Park in Jiashan Economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of 120 acres, with a total investment of approximately 200 million yuan, and the construction of high-standard smart glass greenhouses of approximately 50,000 square meters. He looks forward to everyone working together to contribute to the cultivation of new farmers in China, and very much welcome talents to join HX Jiashan.

Lecturer Jasper den Besten said that everyone learns quickly, and the classroom atmosphere is very dynamic. The trainees appreciate the theory-and-practice teaching method very much, and gained new insights every day. Observing crops at close range, understanding their physiology and analyzing possible causes and possible solutions, it gave everyone a deep understanding that greenhouse ecology is an interlocking and mutually influencing environment. Any solution may create new problems, and a small adjustment may have a series of large impacts.
