SIAM 2026: building partnerships

Building partnerships that drive horticulture forward and enable the transition forced by climate change, labour shortages, and water scarcity

This year, the Netherlands was prominently represented at SIAM in Meknes, Morocco’s leading agricultural event. With a strong Dutch delegation and a centrally located Netherlands Pavilion, the week focused on strengthening cooperation and fostering long-term partnerships between the Netherlands and Morocco.

The Netherlands Pavilion, organised by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Morocco, Netherlands Enterprise Agency and Dutch Greenhouse Delta, served as a central meeting point for stakeholders from across the horticultural value chain.

A week of exchange and connection

Throughout the programme, the Dutch delegation engaged in a wide range of activities, including the official inauguration of the Netherlands Pavilion, presentations, B2B meetings, and field visits.

The B2B programme brought Dutch companies and organisations into direct contact with key players in the Moroccan agricultural sector. Meetings were held with leading agribusinesses, public institutions, and sector organisations, reflecting the diversity and scale of the market.

Among others, discussions took place with organisations such as Les Domaines Agricoles, DELASSUS Group, CMGP, the Agence de Développement Agricole (ADA) and FIFEL. These exchanges focused on opportunities for collaboration in areas such as sustainable production, value chain development, and climate-resilient horticulture.

From dialogue to practice

In addition to meetings and presentations, the programme included a seminar and networking session, bringing together public and private stakeholders to exchange knowledge and perspectives.

The week concluded with field visits to several agricultural operations, including greenhouse-based production systems and innovative farms such as Jodoor. These visits provided valuable insights into the local context and highlighted concrete opportunities for applying Dutch expertise in practice.

Connecting ecosystems for impact

SIAM 2026 once again underlined the strong ambition within Morocco to further develop its agricultural sector, with a focus on productivity, sustainability and innovation.

The event confirms the importance of connecting ecosystems. By bringing together knowledge, technology, and partners, DGD contributes to integrated solutions that align with local needs and support long-term development.

The Netherlands and Morocco share a strong foundation for collaboration. SIAM 2026 demonstrated that this partnership continues to evolve, with growing opportunities for joint initiatives and sustainable impact.

A big thank-you to everyone who contributed, this was a real team effort!
