Following a successful mission in April to Zhenjiang, Hefei, Beijing and Shandong province, Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD), in close cooperation with RVO and the Dutch Embassy in Beijing, continues to build on strong momentum in China with a new, focused programme this autumn.
In November, SMM China heads to Sichuan (Chengdu) and Shanghai regions. Two distinct yet highly relevant horticultural markets. In both regions, a targeted programme will be offered, designed to deepen collaboration with Chinese partners and translate growing interest into concrete opportunities.
The activities enable Dutch companies to explore market opportunities, connect with key Chinese partners, and expand their presence in China.
Dutch companies across the horticulture value chain, ranging from seeds, greenhouse technology and equipment to cultivation, as well as related sectors such as water, energy and biodiversity are invited to take part.
1. Dutch Horticulture Roadshow to Sichuan (Chengdu) during the 12th Sichuan Agricultural Expo – 30 October to 2 November
Sichuan is rapidly positioning itself as the horticultural hub of Western China, with strong government support and increasing demand for high-quality fresh produce. Cities such as Chengdu (including Qingbaijiang, Wenjiang and Tianfu New District), Meishan and Xichang are actively developing high-tech greenhouse projects.
This roadshow organized by SMM China, together with Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Netherlands Business Supports Office Chengdu, offers direct access to emerging projects and regions actively seeking collaboration with Dutch partners, creating concrete opportunities for engagement and follow-up.

30 Oct – 2 Nov: Joint Dutch horticulture booth at the 12th Sichuan Agricultural Expo
30 Oct: Seminar: ‘Netherlands – Sichuan Province Horti Industry Development and Cooperation Seminar’
2 – 3 Nov: Site visits to greenhouse projects and meetings with local developers and authorities.
2. Dutch presence at 4th Int’l Horti Fresh Expo (Asia Fresh), including a joint booth and seminar – 10 to 12 November in Shanghai
In Shanghai, the focus is on innovation, market development and next-generation greenhouse production. This activity is organized by SMM-China in cooperation with C Fruits Union.

10 – 12 Nov: Dutch joint booth at the 4th Int’l Horti Fresh (Asia Fresh) Expo – in Greenhouse cherry tomatoes hall
10 Nov: Seminar: ‘Dutch Horticulture fruit and Vegetable Seminar’, including a discussion on developing standards and a traceability system for greenhouse cherry tomatoes
11 Nov: Exchange meeting with developers and growers in Pudong Zhangjiang High-tech Park (Sunqiao agro park).
In addition, the China Annual Greenhouse Conference (12 – 14 November, Hunan Province) takes place in the same period. While not part of this SMM-programme, it may be of interest to companies already active in China.
