HortiRoad2India discovers new opportunities during successful mission

We proudly look back on our successful HortiRoad2India trade mission around The World Food India in Delhi, 3-5 November 2023. During the trade mission Dutch Greenhouse Delta’s partners worked tirelessly to explore and strengthen new horizons in horticultural collaboration between India and The Netherlands. The trade mission marks a milestone in our commitment to promoting Dutch food safety systems globally.

The cluster of Dutch leading horticulture companies, coordinated by Dutch Greenhouse Delta, Innovation Quarter and Rotterdam partners, made significant strides towards collaboration in fresh food production. New business opportunities have been discovered and the mission has yielded valuable leads.

The high-tech greenhouse demo at World Food India was a real highlight, attracting a large audience. India’s largest food exhibition, hosted in Delhi. This showcase was not just a crowd-pleaser but a great representation of Dutch expertise in sustainable food production. The Dutch showcase and ideation session garnered significant attention from media, politicians, and entrepreneurs.

The trade mission continued in the states of Goa and Uttar Pradesh, where the Dutch cluster met with many high-level government officials. Exchanging insights with top officials confirmed that horticulture is increasingly becoming a focal point in India. Furthermore, a visit to LuLu Hypermarkets provided valuable insights into the rapidly growing luxury retail concept targeting the vast Indian middle class.

Desh Ramnath, director DGD India and coordinator of NLHortiRoad2India concludes: “We are determined to move forward as a cluster by developing concrete business cases. Additionally, we plan to attend the Fresh Produce Fair in Mumbai in March 2024.”
