The Netherlands and Japan collaborate on sustainable horticulture solutions

On Wednesday, 3 September, the Exclusive CEA Symposium will take place at Expo 2025 in Osaka, as part of the Dutch Horticultural mission to Japan. This high-level event will showcase Dutch expertise in sustainable horticulture, focusing on innovation and collaboration in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) to address global agricultural challenges.

The symposium will bring together leading Dutch and Japanese experts, policymakers, and growers to discuss cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions in CEA. Topics will include smart farming systems, decarbonisation, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and public-private partnerships.

A High-Level Gathering of Experts

The event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. Among the key speakers will be Marten van den Berg, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security, and Nature of the Netherlands, Raymond Wheeler, Senior scientist and plant physologist at NASA, and Bouke Arends, Mayor of the Municipality of Westland. Special attention will be given to how the Netherlands and Japan can combine their expertise to overcome global food security and sustainability challenges.

Additionally, attendees will have the unique opportunity to tour the Dutch Pavilion at Expo 2025.

Walking Dinner prepared by renowned Dutch Chef

The evening before the CEA Symposium, an exclusive walking dinner will take place, prepared by renowned Dutch chef Hidde den Brabander. This dinner will offer a culinary experience through horticulture, highlighting the values and innovations that define the Dutch greenhouse sector. Guests will be served a menu as a tribute to horticulture. Each course reflects a key element of greenhouse farming.
