A high-level delegation from the Gulf region will visit the GreenTech exhibition in Amsterdam next week at the invitation of Dutch Greenhouse Delta. The visit reflects the growing ties between the Netherlands and the Gulf in areas like water efficiency, climate-resilient food systems, and horticultural innovation.
The Netherlands is widely known for its expertise in agri-food innovation, and the ties with the Gulf region have clearly been gaining momentum. Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and the UAE are actively looking for smart, sustainable ways to boost local food production — and the Netherlands has a lot to offer through its futureproof food system. To strengthen the collaboration, Dutch Greenhouse Delta, together with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Agricultural Network of the GCC, is organising this incoming mission of senior government officials and ministers. A great step forward, bringing key players together and laying the groundwork for long-term partnerships.
Senior Gulf officials visit the Netherlands
Leading the Saudi delegation is His Excellency Eng. Mansour Al Mushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His Excellency will be accompanied by senior advisors, directors of key departments, and technical experts from MEWA. Their participation highlights Saudi Arabia’s long-term vision to integrate cutting-edge technology into its food and water sectors, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
The delegation also includes high-level representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of the Sultanate of Oman, the Ministry of Municipality of the State of Qatar, and the Abu Dhabi Agricultural Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) from the United Arab Emirates, along with leading Gulf-based public and private stakeholders in agriculture, horticulture, and water management.
A packed program built on connection and collaboration
The program includes a visit to GreenTech Amsterdam, the world’s premier horticulture technology exhibition. GreenTech will be held from 10 to 12 June, and offers a moment to connect, share insights, and explore cooperation. Furthermore, the delegation will visit world-renowned innovation hubs and leading horticultural companies in the Netherlands.
On Tuesday, June 10 at GreenTech, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed, including a landmark agreement between Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD) and the Saudi AgriFood Tech Alliance (SAFTA), further formalizing collaboration between Dutch innovators and Saudi agricultural entities. Giovanni Angiolini, Director Middle East & Africa at DGD, commented: “This mission represents more than a trade visit – it’s a signal of intent. Together with our Gulf partners, we are laying the groundwork for future-proof solutions that address food and water security, sustainability, and innovation.”
