On October 6, the covenant for the PIB NLHortiRoad2India was signed at the Netherlands India Business Meet in Ahoy, Rotterdam. This festive ceremony marks the kick-off of a multi-year public-private partnership, which aims to position the Dutch horticultural sector as a partner for India to meet India’s increasing demand for fresh, safe, and nutritious fruits and vegetables.
Vertical farming projects are now sprouting up all over the world. Signify and BASF’s Vegetable Seeds Business are actively involved with these types of projects. Both parties are looking into how they can strengthen and support each other here.
The covered cultivation of vegetables, fruits and flowers is in great swing all over China. “This varies from very large-scale high-tech greenhouses to small-scale companies, which are developing strongly technically. High-quality Venlo greenhouses are emerging, but the acreage of tunnel greenhouses for the cultivation of soft fruit, for example, is still growing rapidly,” says Fulco Wijdooge.
Substrate supplier Grodan from Roermond has this year become a partner of the Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD). “We can see many opportunities in the Gulf region and the Dutch Greenhouse Delta is helping us to jointly capitalise on them as horticultural suppliers. With the assistance of this unique network, we can offer many product solutions, services and knowledge for safe and sustainable food solutions worldwide”, says Sander van Golberdinge, Manager Public Affairs of Grodan.
